Magic Rabbit Compost

Rabbit manure has very high Nitrogen and Phosphorous levels with additional trace elements, which makes it ideally suited for a rich, organic plant medium.  With the addition of oats hay and borage, care is taken to balance nitrogen and carbon levels. Molasses is added to boost microbial activity.

Rabbit manure is a cold manure and can be added directly to plants without fear of root burn.  It is odourless making it ideally suited for indoor and outdoor use. Additionally, it is a slow release manure, ensuring a prolonged nutrient release.  When composted it produces an outstanding organic mulch and soil amendment. All natural and free of chemical fertilizers.

Magic Rabbit compost is bagged in bio-degradable Hessian sacks with a natural handle. A choice of two retail display units are available: a wall unit as well as a free standing unit.  Both units are on wheels.

Wall unit: 18 bags- L560 x W860 x H1800 (up to height of Rabbit Logo)

Free standing unit: 36 bags- L1120 x W860 x H1800 (up to height of Rabbit Logo)

Bag volume: 10dm³, 15dm³

Colour of stands: Mid Grey

Magic Rabbit Compost infused with Wild Muscovy Duck Tea:

Rabbit Manure is composted with Wild Muscovy Duck Tea to enable higher nitrogen levels for that extra boost.  Exterior use only.

In development and not yet available

Rabbit urine is collected and fermented with a special mother culture. This product is an excellent foliar feed, releasing nutrients to leaves and soil.  It has a pungent aroma, reminiscent of red wine which acts as a natural insecticide, keeping away aphids, mites, caterpillars, moths, leaf miners, red spider and other crop pests. Spray applied to young crops, it jump starts initial growth, giving the young plant an all-important head start.  Applied to ornamentals, Magic Rabbit Liquid bolsters the plant’s nutrient levels, creating a healthy and happy plant. What is healthy soil?

It is a complicated question to answer as the plant kingdom is as diverse as the animal kingdom and what is good for one, could be wrong for the other. Some plants love sandy soil, others need clay soil and yet another does well in acid soil and so the list can go on and on until all species have been exhausted. Magic Rabbit is mostly concerned with those plants that thrive in a rich PH neutral environment, i.e.  Vegetables, ornamentals, trees etc.

Healthy soil should be alive with organic material, rich with microbial life, beneficial microorganisms, macro and micro nutrients, trace minerals and should retain water.

It is a fundamental and universal concept that successful farming starts with soil preparation.  PH values of the soil to match the crop to be planted, all play vital roles in vigorous growth. More often than not, these factors are ignored with the resultant poor performance and disappointment. This is especially true of the home gardener.  To expect growth without the proper evaluation and subsequent preparation of the soil, will lead to failure.

It is therefore of paramount importance to add a good quality compost with slow release action to give sustainable growth through the lifetime of the plant. Gardening is a commitment with yearly maintenance to replenish lost nutrients etc.

An easy way to achieve an optimum growing environment, is to add compost.  But are all composts created equal?  The gardener is often confronted with a bewildering amount of choices.

A good quality compost loosens clay soil and helps sandy soil retain water. Compost comprises of the following:

Nitrogen (N) for greener and stronger plants

Phosphorous (P) a requirement to convert solar energy into chemical energy as well as aiding in bigger and more blooms, root growth and assists with fruiting stress

Potassium (K) helpful in improving fruit quality and warding off lethal diseases

The following table illustrates the NPK values of popular manures used by gardeners.

Type of Manure

Phosphorous (P)%: 1.4
Potassium (K)%: 0.60

Rabbit manure is rich in nitrogen and phosphorous, two crucial nutrients for successful crop yield as well as beneficial trace elements such as zinc, calcium, magnesium, manganese, copper, sulfur, boron and cobalt.  Uniquely, it is a cold manure and can be applied directly to the soil without any danger of root burn. As it decomposes, it slowly releases important nutrients and microorganisms and aids in building the organic structure of the soil.

To add to these impressive qualities, Rabbit manure is also odourless.

Here at Magic Rabbit we passionately believe in the benefits of rabbit manure as can be seen by the many examples in our gallery. Sustainable living has been our dream for the past 25 years, caring for the soil our utmost responsibility.  Our rabbits are cared for in comfortable quarters, fed a natural diet and happy. As their diet consists of mainly oats hay, the manure is well composted.

Rabbit urine is collected and fermented according to an ancient Japanese technique made famous by Dr. Teruo Higa, utilizing what he coined Effective Microorganisms®.  This method creates a 100% organic foliar feed with the additional benefit of a completely natural insecticide.  The fermented Magic Rabbit Liquid has a pleasant aroma and is packed with beneficial, natural probiotics for plants and soils.
